Game Reserves

For game viewing from your own vehicle, the Addo Elephant National Park which is home to over 300 elephants, will also give you the opportunity of seeing black rhino, Cape buffalo, eland, kudu and various antelope species, is about 30 minutes away.

The Nukakamma Canoe Trail, situated on the Sundays River, also on our doorstep offers canoeists the advantage of paddling a two day trail of 28 km, or if fit and energetic, as long as 50 km.

The Shamwari Game Reserve, within 40 km, offers you an African Adventure, and is home to the “Big 5”, as well as a traditional arts and cultural village where you will experience the rituals and customs of the AmaXhosa.

For a little piece of Africa, The Addo Crocodile Ranch and Reed Valley Crocodile Farm, again 20 minutes away, offers guided daily tours, and boasts great Restaurant and Bar facilities.

The Schotia Private Game Reserve offers scenic game drives, delicious meals in their lapa, and is situated only 15 minutes away. It is well worth a visit.

    Places of Interest Other Places of interest include, Slagboom, the site of a battle that was ensued between a Boer commando and a black clan, the Piet Swart Bridge, where a fossilised limb bone of a dinosaur was discovered, the outstanding Fitzpatrick Library, which was built in 1959 in honoured memory of Sir Percy FitzPatrick, author of “Jock of the Bushveld”. St. Michaels Church, which was built by parishioners of the Sundays River Valley in 1937, The Harold Trollip Museum, which contains records of the history of the Addo area, and the memorabilia of Harold Trollip, the first warden of the Addo National Park.

Available Monday - Friday 9am - 3pm and on Saturday from 9am - 11am.

The Laundry can be found next to the Colchester KWIKSPAR inside the Post Office. The KWIKSPAR is 5 minute walk from the top caravan park.
